The journey of Francesco Melcarne, a young entrepreneur from Apulia, who has managed to combine his love for his Salento roots with innovation and style to create a unique and sophisticated accessories brand: OLEVIO.
Having grown up in the family tradition of olive mills and olive groves in Apulia, and after a solid education in economics, management and international marketing, Francesco decided to use his academic and practical knowledge to create an innovative and authentic entrepreneurial activity in his native Salento.
This is how OLEVIO was born, an Italian brand that produces handcrafted watches, bags, jewellery and accessories using mainly olive wood. A tribute to its roots, sustainability and Italian craftsmanship.
OLEVIO's identity is deeply rooted in Salento. The brand's products are inspired by the colours, landscapes and traditions of this land, where olive wood becomes the very symbol of Puglia's resilience and beauty. From the evocative tops of the olive trees, blanched by the sun and bent by the wind, comes a design that tells stories of strength, passion and belonging, making each accessory a little ambassador of the land.

Olevio pays great attention to environmental sustainability, using natural and eco-friendly materials such as olive wood, marble, metals and vegetable-tanned leather, and employing eco-friendly manufacturing processes. Every element, from the structure of the watches to the details of the bags and jewellery, is carefully crafted. Even the packaging, made from recycled paper, reflects this commitment, with clean, minimalist lines that emphasise the desire to combine design with respect for the environment.
The Olevio workshop is located in Gagliano del Capo, near Santa Maria di Leuca, where design comes to life through craftsmanship. Inspired by nature and tradition, Olevio takes its name and essence from the olive tree, symbol of the Salento and raw material for its products. Olevio combines traditional techniques with a modern approach, creating unique accessories ranging from watches - such as the 'Sallentum', 'Pescoluse' and 'Venere' models - to wooden bags and fine jewellery.
This combination of family tradition and technological innovation sets the brand apart in the Italian design scene, offering elegant, functional products with a strong aesthetic impact.
Francesco Melcarne's project does not stop at the creation of accessories: the aim is to integrate the artisan activity with the family farm and to expand the tourist offer of the residence. The idea is to create a multi-sensorial shop where it will be possible to admire the products and taste typical Apulian specialities. This prospect of growth will further strengthen the link with the territory.
