Florence - Blogs and Cafts Europe 2023, 13 young artisans under 35 exhibit at Crafts and Palace until Sept. 17
It opened on Friday, Sept. 15 and will continue until Sunday, Sept. 17, the 29th edition of the "Artigianato e Palazzo" Exhibition, held at the beautiful Corsini Garden in Florence.
An Exhibition with an articulated and original program that winds through exhibitions, workshops and meetings, gathering 100 master craftsmen for an experience-rich journey between art and creativity involving different sectors, from ceramics to accessories, from jewelry to perfumes, from weaving to decorations, from stones to textiles, for a mosaic of traditions.
A strong point of the event, the involvement of 13 young artisans under 35 who, thanks to Blogs&Crafts Europe, a competition born in 2014, bring their know-how to this beautiful event.
Very young budding talents ranging from goldsmithing, papermaking, wool, semi-precious stones, ceramics, wood and textile restoration. A beautiful exhibition that bodes well for the future of Italian craftsmanship and the 'interest of young people in these wonderful manual arts; especially today when great difficulties emerge on the issue of generational transition.
And this is precisely why this small exhibition in the exhibition taking place in the stables of the Corsini Garden is so important ....
So let's try to learn more about the ones that particularly impressed us with their technique and creativity:
With careful research and careful study of the materials and technique of Commesso Fiorentino, the Atelier Terre of Philip Kron Morelli and Arienne Palla, a young pair of Florentine artisans with an amazing ability to create unique objects using the ancient technique of Commesso Fiorentino, which through the working of semi-precious stones, allows for the creation of incredible, seamless mosaics that appear like painted pictures, stands out.

Cheerful, colorful and joyful, on the other hand, are the papier-mâché creations signed Le Bomboline by Amalia Di Tecco, a young artisan from Abruzzo who makes splendid dolls that can be customized on request, female figures with round, supple bodies, in constant movement, who adore sports and practice yoga ... A bit fanatical, in their workouts, they love to show off swimsuits, always different and colorful.

Everyday objects with details that are anything but simple and with soft lines and design, this is how the wood creations of Walter Wood Turing by Walter Intravaia, who in Cramignano (PO) makes his elegant creations preferring the technique of turning.

Also stunning are the artistic ceramics of Daniele Giannetti, a Florentine designer and artist, exhibiting creations made with the technique known as a Colombino, which, covered with glazes with a thousand reflections and metallic colors, expertly blended, give a unique effect of luster, power and plasticity to his works.
He studied Product Design at Central Saint Martins before earning an MFA in Information Experience Design at the Royal College of Art. He currently creates sound installations, terracotta sculptures, paintings, performances and is a certified holistic sound and vibration practitioner. Since 2021, Daniele has been participating in the Fuorisalone in Milan, where he exhibited first at Alcova in 2021, then at Isola in 2022, and, despite his young age, he is already present in some prestigious Italian art galleries.

Nice and very creative, we enjoyed YAYOLAB's exhibition by Tatiana Mannelli, a very young artisan and illustrator from Prato who put her creativity on canvas, making "walkable paintings" where the color is made with yarn and the brush is shaped like a gun ...
We are talking about artistic rugs and pillows, in different shapes and sizes, that Tatiana makes, by hand, using a gun with which she can create real freehand drawings on canvas.
This is an artisanal technique that has become very popular in recent years and has married perfectly with Tatiana's illustrator vocation, allowing her to create her own very special and unique line that uses recycled wool and yarn. These are materials that she collects herself, requesting scraps from fabric companies.
Her distinctive designs and choice of warm colors with Mexican references, in fact make her style unique and give her all the cards to grow very well and achieve great results.

If the previous artisans are the ones who particularly impressed us, we must admit that it was not at all easy to choose them since all the participants under 35 brought a very pleasant, already mature and valuable high-level savoir-faire that has little to envy the older and more experienced masters.
Here are the names of the other Crafters under 35 participating in the Blogs&Crafts Europe competition:
Marie Levoyet (France), who specializes in color copper photogravure; Nino Misriashvili (Georgia), who after graduating in economics chose the craft of artisanship and works with the wood he decorates using the incrustation technique; Mark Newman (Ireland), an award-winning Irish goldsmith and educator. His work embraces a newly discovered neurological phenomenon, aphantasia. From which he himself is affected; artist Mária (Slovakia), produces collections of jewelry and interior objects; Margherita Pozzali (Sweden) who experiments with materials and combinations for original ceramic objects.
Working in Italy are young people: Elisa Monfasani, a cultural heritage restorer, and Emanuela Fistos, a restoration technician active in the field of textile artworks; Bianca Hodselle, who enhances traditional art techniques-embroidery, oil painting, weaving-to communicate the major themes of sustainability; Sandra Lara Schaffner, makes utility and art objects in stoneware and porcelain, experimenting with combinations with other materials such as wood and iron; Filippo Zanini, with his 100% natural fragrances.
As it has every year for 29 editions, "Artigianato e Palazzo" proves to be a careful and selective exhibition, capable of bringing the best of our high craftsmanship on display and at the same time being able to deal with very important and current social issues and aspects; in the case of Blogs&Crafts Europe the focus on young people as a social input, in fostering the generational turnover of Italian craftsmanship.
You just have to visit Crafts and Palace to discover all the handcrafted wonders on display, the event is open until Sunday, Sept. 17 with closing hours: 7:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
